May 2020 Singapore Portfolio Performance Report. Overall = +25.81%, YTD = -5.76%

How was May 2020 like for Singapore market?
May 2020 went by with a large part of the country staying at home. Thankfully the number of new COVID-19 cases remain low in the community and we are going to exit the Circuit-Breaker (in phases) starting 2nd June. However, the market is not cheerful about it. STI fell 3% for the month due to the increased tension between US and China after China's parliament passes Hong Kong national security law.

How was the portfolio performance in May 2020?
My SG portfolio fell 1.21% in May as the 2 stocks that the system invested in reversed course slightly. The drop is lower compared to the benchmark STI index ETF (ES3.SI). Year to date return fell to -5.76% while ES3 declined 20.70% so the system is still beating the benchmark by a huge margin. Total return since inception in June 2016 is now +25.81%. STI ETF only rose 2.65% for the same period, which is rather disappointing. Imagine investing in the ETF for 4 years and you only get 2.65% inclusive of dividend? It would have been better to just put it in a fixed deposit account for a 1% per annum interest. Ok I am exhibiting hindsight bias here.
