April 2018 Portfolio Performance Report for US market -3.18% YTD +67.44% Overall

US stock market in general had a lackluster month in April despite the fact that more than half of the companies reported stronger than expected Q1 earnings. S&P500 posted a gain of merely 0.3%. Perhaps the continuing rise of the 10-year Treasury yield as it touched 3% for the first time since 2014 is enticing some investors' move to the less riskier asset class.

This month, my US portfolio outperformed the S&P500, posting a gain of 2.41% while S&P500 posted a gain of only 0.3%. One of the reason for the outperformence this month is because currently the portfolio contains mostly of defensive stocks and basic materials. One of the defensive stocks is having an unrealized gain of 30%. The portfolio YTD return has improved to -3.81% while S&P500 is at a loss of 0.95%.

Total return since inception (from June 2016) has increased to 67.44%.
(I made a mistake with the total return last month, it should have been 63.54% instead of 68.54%)

Total Return since inception (June 2016)
